Nikon & Canon release firmware updates

Canon has released a firmware update making the WFT-E3/E3a Wireless Transmitter compatible with the 50D.

Nikon has released firmware for the D80 and D200 to resolve a battery level reading issue.

Adobe Unveils Photoshop CS4

 

Adobe has released details on Photoshop CS4.  CS4 will use more of your computer's GPU for more processing power.

Shipping is scheduled for the 4th quarter at $699 and $199 for upgrades.

 

Some interesting new features include:

A new simplified adjustments panel.

Adobe's new look tabbed system.

Content aware scaling:  when resizing an image, CS4 lets you select areas to preserve detail.

Canon posts 5D II Video

 

Canon has posted a video made on a preproduction 5D II by Canon Explorer of Light Vincent Laforet.

Shot over two days, this stunning three minute video (not nature photography related) shows off the 5D II's video quality and uses 11 Canon lenses including tilt-shift lenses.  You can see these different lenses at work during viewing.

Nikon announces the D90 - with video

Nikon has announced a new DSLR, the D90, to ship in September at a suggested retail of $999.

The D90 is an upgrade to the D80 and includes a video mode.

Main features include:

  • 12 megapixel sensor
  • One Button Live View
  • Self-cleaning sensor
  • built in flash
  • Video mode up to 720p
  • 4.5 fps

Epson announces new photo viewers

 

 Epson has announced two new multimedia viewers, the P-6000 and the P-7000.

The new viewers have a four-inch VGA LCD with a four-color filter system with over 16.7 million colors and the Adobe RGB color gamut.

The P-6000 has an 80GB hard drive while the P-7000 doubles up with 160GB of storage for your RAW and JPEG images. Epson claims that these image viewiers are 35 percent faster than previous models.

Both viewers have the ability to playback video and audio files and have built-in CF  and SD slots.

Availability should be in September for Epson P-6000 and P-7000 for $599 and $799 respectively.
