Epson Announces New R2880

Epson has announced the R2880, a new 13-inch inkjet printer to replace the popular R2400. The Stylus Photo R2880 uses Epson's eight-color, pigment-based UltraChrome K3 with Vivid Magenta ink set and Radiance Processing Technology to output borderless prints at resolutions up to 5760x1440. The R2880's ink set includes three black inks to achieve a wide tonal range in monochrome prints, and a new advanced black-and-white mode in the printer driver.

In addition to printing up to 13x44 inches, the R2880 can output directly onto CDs and DVDs. Improvements over the R2400 include the addition of a second USB port so that two computers can be connected at once, and a Mist Collection System that keeps the inside of the printer from getting coated with ink overspray with long use.

The R2880 will list for $799.99 and is scheduled to be released in June.
